It’s that time of year when the Yen Family goes crazy for baseball.  Although this year, we’ll admit, we’ve bitten off more than we can chew.

Besides attending regular Safeco rooting sessions for our hometown Mariners, both Keaton and Mathew are playing America’s favorite pastime.  We can honestly count on a single hand the number of “free” days where Keaton or Mathew aren’t playing baseball and we’ve had to juggle around multiple days when both are playing games at the same time but 60 miles apart!  Thus is the life of parents these days…

Mathew is in the midst of a very successful season and was recently nominated as an All Star.  He continues to play stellar defense as a catcher and boasts a ridiculous On-Base-Percentage as well as Hitting Average, not to mention his base-stealing skills.  So fun to watch him play and develop as a player.

Keaton finished his high school baseball season on the Growls JV team.  We managed to throw together some highlights of him catching and pitching during the season.  Take a look…

Keaton is now playing for his Travel Select team and they’re close to a MLB schedule of playing 4 games/week until the last week of July.  We’ve decided that this will be the last year for Travel Ball for Keaton as it’s really too much of a time commitment and sacrificing family time from May – July where the four of us are never together, really isn’t worth the millions of dollars that Keaton would have eventually signed as a MLB baseball player!

8:45pm Update — Just got back from Mathew’s baseball game where he had a great game going 4-for-4 at the plate.  We managed to video-tape his last at-bat and we’ll let you make the call… SAFE or OUT!
